About me

Flavia Breu from Switzerland

I received my Bachelor of Science in Switzerland in 1997. For four years I worked in the well known Rehabilitation Hospital in Valens, Switzerland. I specialized in Rehabilitation, Neurology, Trigger Point Treatment and Hydrotherapy. From 2001 to 2002 I lived in South Korea and worked at the Rehabilitation Hospital in Ilsan, Seoul. Returning to Switzerland I started my specialization in Paediatrics (Neurology, Orthopedics and Hydrotherapy) in the Rehabilitation Hospital for Children in Affoltern am Albis. In 2005, I moved back to Asia and have been working in private clinics in Singapore and Bangkok before coming to Vietnam in February 2011. Every year I travelled to Singapore or Switzerland to attend workshops and courses to learn new techniques and to keep my knowledge up to date in the fast developing science of physiotherapy. I learned dry needling and kinesiotaping, became a baby massage instructor and deepened the knowledge of pelvic floor training. After almost 10 years in Hanoi, me and my family moved to Central Vietnam. I started my own clinic in a beautiful set up with view over the beautiful ricefields in Cam Thanh area.
Since June 2022, I am also a certified advanced nutritional counsellor with specialisations in sports nutrition, weight loss and disease management. I proudly  received the Certification with the highest score from Health Academy Australia.

I speak English, German and French.

My Therapy Offers

General physiotherapy for adults

I am experienced in assessing and treating  orthopaedic or any kind of muscular skeletal problems  (back pain, sportsinjuries, post surgery or trauma) and neurological conditions (stroke, brain damage, central or peripheral paresis) thanks to my advanced bobath training courses.

Sportstherapy/ Sports Nutrition Counselling

Being a hobby triathlete myself my passion is to help athletes to prevent injuries during training or guide them during their rehabilitation after sportsrelated injuries or surgeries. I also do nutrition counselling, assessments (sweat rate test, body composition analysis, cardiovascular fitness test) and interventions to optimise your level of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness regardless of age and ability.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a very effective deep relaxation technique to treat pain and referred pain caused by tight muscles (Myofascial Triggerpoints) with acupuncture needles.

Kinesio Taping

Both classic and fingerprint tape is now available in my clinic. Kinesiotape is more than traditional rigid tape which increases stability in a loose joint. Through its special ability to stretch and curl back it has a deep effect on muscle fibers, fascia and the lymphatic system. Depending on the technique in which it is applied it supports muscle function or it helps muscles to relax and is highly effective in reducing bruises or swellings.

Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound therapy is the use of sound waves to treat musculoskeletal problems like acute pain, inflammation or swelling from injuries (sprains, tendinitis, bursitis) via an increase in local blood flow. The application is very gentle and  therefore ideal for acute pain treatment. The intensity or power density of the ultrasound can be adjusted on my machine depending on the desired effect.

Paediatric Physiotherapy

I am experienced in treating babies and children with neurological (Brain damage or Problems in central nervous system, Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrom) or orthopedic problems (e.g. flat or inverted feet, rehabilitation after surgery or trauma). I also do developmental assessments and early interventions for developmentally delayed babies.

Advanced Nutritional Counselling

I am excited to add nutritional counselling to my services. Physiotherapy interventions and adaptations in the diet often go hand in hand. Having the right nutrition supports healing and prevents futher injuries. I am spezialised in disease management nutrition (e.g. diabetes, high cholesterol, arthritis and many more), sports nutrition and weight loss programs.

Classes

I offer the following classes on a regular basis.

Pelvic Floor Training

It is recommended that all woman exercise their pelvic floor muscles everyday throughout life specially after pregnancy, child birth or during menopause.

In this course you will learn to strengthen your pelvic floor and core muscles to gain a better posture, a firm trunk and to prevent incontinence (involuntary loss of urine), low back pain or prolapse of the uterus or bladder.

Mobility & Stretch class

This class is a mix of deep stretching positions and mobility exersices. Perfect right after a workout or as an addition on your rest day in your training program.

Baby Massage

This course is suitable for babies from birth to crawling stage.

Massage is a great way to promote posture, balance, flexibility and agility in your child. It also alleviates the symptoms of many childhood complaints such as respiratory congestions, sticky eyes, colic and sleep-lessness.

This course will teach you the different techniques involved in baby massage and about the benefits and pleasure of intimate moments between parent and baby.

Patient Testimonials

Here’s what my clients say:

Personally had successful treatment with dry-needling for muscle trigger points and fascia massage. Extremely professional and accommodating for appointments.

Emma Silva

I have been seeing Flavia for several years for a variety of sports injuries, and she has always had a fantastic intuition as to what the underlying problem is, and just how to fix it!

Mike Perkins

Flavia is a gifted physiotherapist. She is both very knowledgeable and intuitive, and always curious and invested in her patients‘ problems.

Carolina Cruz

I have been having physio with Flavia for a couple of months now and have already seen a huge improvement. I have what I thought was plantar fasciitis, but after just a handful of sessions, Flavia was able to identify other potential causes for the pain in my heel; something which my previous physiotherapists have not been able to do.

Carly Balmforth

I have been with Flavia for several weeks and am very happy with the result. I had a cruciate ligament and meniscal tear a few weeks ago that required surgery. The physiotherapy of Flavia exceeds my expectations.  I have been to some physiotherapists in treatment, in Vietnam and also in Germany. Flavia is by far the best!
